UK, France vow action after at least 27 drown in English Channel’s deadliest migrant tragedy

Britain and France have vowed to take action to break people-smuggling networks after 27 migrants drowned in the English Channel. It’s the deadliest accident since the Channel became a hub for migrants to reach England from France. The victims include three children. They drowned after their inflatable boat lost air and took on water. There were only two survivors. Five suspected traffickers have been arrested. Over 31,000 people have attempted to leave for Britain via the English Channel since the start of 2021.
