NUS researchers develop artificial skin that can recreate sense of touch

People with prosthetic limbs may be able to feel in the future. Researchers from the National University of Singapore have developed an artificial skin that can recreate a sense of touch. The innovation was inspired by a scene from the Star Wars movie trilogy, in which character Luke Skywalker’s right hand was replaced by a robotic one, and could experience sensations again. The electronic skin is made up of 100 small sensors. It can be paired with robots or prosthetic devices to provide them with the sense of touch.
