China says it will not accept US ‘theft’ of TikTok

China has accused the US of "trying to bully" ByteDance into selling TikTok’s US operations. President Donald Trump has put pressure on TikTok to seal a deal within 45 days, or risk being banned in the US from mid-September. Beijing said it will not accept the "theft" of a Chinese tech company by Washington, and that it has "plenty of ways" to respond if a "planned smash and grab" is carried out. Associate Professor of Practice James Crabtree at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy shared his thoughts on talks with Microsoft to buy the app’s US business.
