Citizenship Responsibility; Walking to Driving | Ali Afshar | TEDxTehran | Ali Afshar | TEDxTehran

"Personal Responsibility" plays a pivotal role in curbing excessive emissions at all levels as an individual, a planner or a decision maker. Urban environment and transportation system are tangled and has shaped our personal preferences and travel patterns. Ali Afshar studied architecture at the University of Tehran. His interest in education and improving living conditions led him to earn a doctorate in transportation planning and engineering from New York Polytechnic University. Two decades of continuous activity to plan and design for the sustainable development of human habitats have led to extensive research on public and non-motorized transport and scientific management to reduce the consequences of traffic collisions and air pollution using new technologies. Ali Afshar believes that, as a citizen, we must take responsibility for shaping the situation in which he finds himself and be fully aware of the impact I have on the country’s decisions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
